Motul 8100 X-clean C3
Pouring inferior oil that does not meet the manufacturer’s viscosity or quality standards is like mainlining Crisco into the heart of your BMW, and it’s the quickest way to cause long-term damage. BMW-approved or “spec oil” is more than just a list of suggested oil brands—they are products that have been BMW tested and certified in terms of quality that ensure performance, longevity, emissions and mileage. Motul 8100 X-clean C3 has received the LL04 approval from BMW that states it meets the requirements necessary to maintain your factory warranty. Beware of other oils (that shall remain nameless) that claim to be backed by BMW and meet or exceed OEM specifications.

Kelleners Sport Power Module
Available exclusively from Bavarian Autosport, the Kelleners Sport power module for the BMW 1 Series M is designed to increase throttle response, horsepower and torque. Acting as a second Engine Control Unit (ECU), the power module features original equipment connectors, which makes installation and removal as fast as your car will be. Intensive development work in the lab and at the track allows the Kelleners Sport power module to deliver greater fuel efficiency under normal driving conditions and an additional 60 horsepower and 66 lb-ft of torque under full throttle. $1,960
As soon as the BMW 1 Series M coupe was released, GIAC engineers snatched one up and went right to work on developing software to extract more power from the latest M code. Designed to work with the factory hardware (no additional mods required), the GIAC Stage 1 software offers up gains of 35 to 60 horsepower and 15 to 30 lb-ft of torque depending on octane and mode used. The GIAC Stage 2 takes the 1 Series M to an entirely different level. However, it requires an upgraded intake, intercooler, and exhaust system, although the downpipe upgrade is optional. Stage 2 boasts horsepower gains of 70 to 110 and torque gains of 35 to 60 lb-ft, depending on the program mode and fuel octane. GIAC software doesn’t fully take over, the factory ECU still retains overboost mode, M mode and all of other 1 Series M specific programming. Stage 1 $900. Stage 2 $1000. Handheld Flashloader $150. Optional Programs: Stock $100, Race $200, Valet $100

When optimizing the suspension on the BMW E9X 3 Series, one of the most overlooked components are the stock rubber bushings. Under extreme cornering situations, the soft, factory bushings start to flex, distort and, with repeated abuse, will even tear, which prevents the tire from making optimal contact with the road. The Powerflex urethane rear radius and lateral arm bushing set will ensure that the rear axle of your BMW stays put, increasing handling, acceleration and braking all while decreasing tire wear. $130 (per set) (Additional component bushing sets available, prices vary.)
