*Jaguar XJ8, XJR, S-Type, S-Type R (All engines)
Jaguar XP offers a high performance intake kit for all 1999-2005 Jaguar models. The V6 intake kit produces a claimed 10 hp increase at the wheels, while V8-equipped Jags should see a claimed 12-hp increase at the wheels. $335
*Range Rover Supercharged
British tuner Overfinch offers a Level One power upgrade consisting of a supercharger pulley modification, a high-flow intake, and an exhaust that will boost horsepower from 400 to a claimed 440 and torque to 475 lb-ft.
Overfinch also offers a hand-built 5.0-liter `high torque' supercharged engine. The factory 4.2-liter engine is bored and stroked to five liters using custom, high-strength internal components. The kit also features an upgraded supercharger system, modified cylinder heads, and a full manifold-back exhaust system ending in a set quad exhaust tips. According to the company, all this should give 500 hp and 550 lb-ft torque. Contact the manufacturer for pricing.
*Lamborghini Gallardo
Edo Competition's upgrade kit for the Gallardo consists of a carbon fiber air box that feeds both intake plenums and a pair of 100-cell metallic catalytic converters. To ensure optimum airflow and backpressure, the kit also includes an engine management upgrade. These components give a claimed power gain of 10 percent, which should put the 5.0-liter V10 into the 570-hp range. Contact the manufacturer for pricing.
*Maybach 57/57S/62
Brabus takes the standard 550-hp V12 Biturbo engine and increases displacement from the standard 5.5 liters to 6.3 using a special crankshaft with longer stroke, larger pistons and precision-balanced connecting rods. The stage one kit also includes custom camshafts, newly programmed engine electronics and an exhaust system with metal catalysts and dual oval-shaped exhaust tips. These upgrades should produce a claimed 640 hp at 5100 rpm and 765 lb-ft torque at 1750 rpm.
Stage two gives 730 hp at 5100 rpm and maximum torque of 811 lb-ft at just 2100 rpm. This propels the vehicle from zero to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds, with a top speed of 200 mph. As an added precaution, Brabus installs a limiter at maximum torque to ensure long-term reliability. Contact the manufacturer for pricing.
*Mercedes-Benz C32
Hartmut Feyhl of Renntech has been tuning Mercedes for nearly 20 years. As a former employee of AMG, he is privy to advanced MBZ technology and has developed an innate understanding of how it all works. Renntech's C32 AMG Performance Package 1 is comprised of a larger crankshaft pulley and an ECU upgrade, good for a claimed 45 hp and 55 lb-ft of torque. $3,495
*Mercedes-Benz AMG 5.5L V8 Kompressor
Evosport has recently released its Evolution line of products for the 5.5-liter Kompressor engine. The stage one kit includes a fully dampened overdrive crankshaft pulley, a set of underdrive pulleys for the water pump, alternator and power steering belt, and engine software. These parts increase boost by 3 psi, and raise output by 45 hp and 55 lb-ft. $3,995
Evosport also carries a stage two upgrade for the E55 which includes a set of `shorty' performance headers (ceramic coated with an easy bolt-in design) and a set of 8mm spark plug wires. Final power output is a claimed 580 hp and 646 lb-ft torque. $2,995
RennTech has a multi-stage performance package for the E55. Stage five is comprised of a larger crankshaft pulley, carbon fiber airbox, stainless steel headers, big-bore throttle body and ECU upgrade. The system is good for a reported extra 105 hp and 110 lb-ft of torque, bringing the total to 574 hp and 626 lb-ft. $15,995
*S/SL/CL 600 5.5L V12 Biturbo
Kleemann supplies a stage one kit for the 5.5-liter Biturbo consisting of a custom ECU program that increases power by a claimed 50 hp and 111 lb-ft of torque. Distributed by Evolution Motorsports.
Stage two features a custom ECU program and an electronic reprogramming of the five-speed automatic transmission. Performance gains are realized in a claimed 627 hp and 772 lb-ft of peak torque, pushing the standard V12 beyond its AMG counterparts. Contact the manufacturer for pricing.
On another front, RennTech's stage two Performance Package includes the ECU and the company's award-winning carbon-fiber airbox assembly. The transmission control unit is also recalibrated to cope with the revised torque curve.
