With my previous AA turbo kit, I had removed the shield underneath the intake manifold, only to notice a dramatic increase in intake air temps due to the heat coming from the block (thanks, BMW, for tilting the engine). I used Thermo Tec's adhesive heat barriers under the new SFR plenum and factory runners, which, along with water injection, help keep intake air temps to just 10 degrees F over ambient under boost, even with the turbo right next to it and the wastegate right underneath.
