Old thrust bearing, top; new thrust bearing, bottom. According to Tom Rose of Performance Techniques, the discoloration and oil of the thrust bearing was also a major indicator of just way too much heat in this turbocharger and shouldn't have been discolored much from the original bronze color. Taking into account everything I've learned so far, I find myself placing more and more blame on the kinked oil line that fed the turbocharger. View Related Article
