Just under the turbine wheel in the middle was evidence that the turbo bearing was actually coming into contact with the shaft and causing friction, hence the shiny, silvery surface there. This was caused by excessive heat caking the oil onto the bearings and preventing more from flowing in between it and the shaft. What the shaft should look like is roughly the same color all the way through. View Related Article
