Automotive Service Equipment provided an AC Hydraulics DK13HLQ long-reach jack. The only safe points by which one may lift a whole end of the E36 (front and rear subframes) are toward the center of the car. As shown in the first photo, a typical floor jack runs into the bumper cover before reaching the crossmember. One could use another jack to lift a corner, but the DK13HLQ can reach the crossmember with the car at normal ride height, saving time and clutter around the shop. The DK13HLQ's rating is 2,800 lb, less than the weight of the car, but it is plenty to lift one end. View Related Article
