The EGT thermocouple probe should ideally be in the exhaust manifold, but was mounted in the turbo downpipe to avoid pulling the exhaust manifold and turbo from the engine. Errors from this mounting location are around 200*F, and have a significant lag due to the thermal mass of the turbocharger itself. Based on the numbers I've seen, I think I'm operating in a safe range. View Related Article
