Hitting BMW show rooms this summer as a 2014 model, the all-new BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo adds an innovative new concept to the 3 Series line-up. Using typical BMW proportions, four doors with frameless windows, coupe-like profile and a sloping roofline add the character of this car, and of course, the large tailgate gives it some real distinction.

The new Gran Turismo is 7.9 inches longer than the 3 Series Sports wagon and has a 4.3 inch longer wheelbase, standing 3.2 inches taller. So yes, it's bigger all around, but with BMWs clever design the Gran Turismo doesn't seem overbearing while still being immediately recognizable.

Your rear passengers will also like this new model because of an added 2.8 inches of rear legroom; something the standard 3 Series could always use more of.

Now with more luggage space, an entire cubic foot over the Sports Wagon, the Gran Turismo uses it large aperture and high-opening tailgate to make loading and unloading easier. The rear seats feature a 40:20:40 split/folding action too. The Gran Turismo can't be outfitted in three different equipment lines, each with their own individual character and M Sport. The Sport Line adds eye-catching exterior features in high-gloss black, like the front kidney grilles and air intakes. Optional 18-inch or 19-inch light-alloy wheels add some sporting factor as well.

The Modern Line adds high-quality chrome exterior trim elements along with 18 or 19-inch turbine style wheels while inside the steering wheel in dark oyster compliments a light-colored dashboard.

M Sport, which is obviously the one we'd go for, gives the new 3 Series Gran Turismo a boost of speed beyond just exterior and interior changes. The all new aero package includes a front apron, rear bumper with diffuser and side skirts, along with BMW Individual High-gloss Shadow Line trim. Our favorite part, though, is the optional exterior color in Estoril Blue metallic, which means you simply can't miss this car. Again, 18 or 19-inch wheels are offered in hallmark M design. Inside there are M doorsills, M leather steering wheel and M driver's footrest. Keeping the driver and passenger snug are the M sports seats, and best of all, this package included lower M Sport suspension.

Offered as a 328i and 335i, this new 3 Series will pack two different punches while still keeping efficiency and athleticism in tact. The 328i uses the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with TwinPower Turbo technology, generating 240hp and 255 lb-ft (at just 1,250 rpm!). The 335i utilizes the N55 6-cylinder TwinPower Turbo to boost it to a healthy 300hp and 300 lb-ft. Both models are equipped with BMWs innovative 8-speed automatic transmission.
