Mini is looking to corner the market in the “most two-door models offered” from a manufacturer. Today, the release of the new Mini Cooper Paceman solidifies the company’s vision.
The new Paceman is the fourth coupé in the company’s line up. While we are perplexed about their decision to add another coupe, the interior space does sit four while also carrying over many things we like about its Countryman sibling.
Take, for example, the optional AWD Mini Cooper Paceman S, with its turbocharged 184hp 1.6L engine. The ideal Frankenstein of all mini models in one package. Sporting looks for the Cooper S, Interior size of the Countryman and versatility of the Clubman. The car has enough room for all your friends on a sizeable road trip, or even the makings of a homebuilt rally car.
If you are across the Atlantic Ocean you have the choice of two diesel engine packages. The Cooper D is a 1.6L 112hp turbocharged engine, while the Cooper SD gets a 2.0L 143hp turbo-diesel engine with an average fuel economy of 61.4mpg.
We expect to see plenty of personalization items available for the car, and even a potential John Cooper Paceman S Works edition. For now options include 16”-19” wheels, lowering springs, upholstery choices and interior surfaces.
Set to arrive in show rooms sometime in March 2013, it will be interesting to see where this Mini lands on the price scale. For now you can anxiously wait to squander hours of your workday customizing your ideal Mini coupe, whichever of the four you decide on.
