For 2013, Jaguar has answered some prayers in the form of all-weather capability. While the XJ is probably way more fun with its ability to get sideways and carry all the weight of a big luxury sedan, the new all-wheel drive system brings the 2013 XJ to another level.
Among various subtle changes, a fourth engine option has also been brought to the table; a 340hp supercharged 3-liter V6. Saving gas and not compromising much power is what we love to see, but if your pockets are heavy enough for the XJ, we prefer the ‘Go big or go home’ mentality, and now you can go bigger than before.
An exclusive XJL Ultimate will be made, just 30 examples, and they represent the pinnacle of the XJ line with a 510hp supercharged V8, private jet-like interior seating and unique finishes, though at $155,000 it’s not exactly a bargain.
A great upgrade for 2012, though, is the all-new ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, which replaces the sluggish ratios in the old six-speed auto.
Just as in 2012, the Sport & Speed Pack is still offered and includes functional aerodynamic enhancements and exclusive exterior and interior features, as well as unlocking the higher top speed capability, because who doesn’t like going 174mph in their luxury boat?
