With the combination of cutting-edge hybrid technology and the popular BMW 3 Series, BMW is doing something very different. Utilizing the TwinPower Turbo 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder and 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission, paiered with an electric motor powered by a high-voltage battery, this 3 Series generates 335 horsepower and 332 lb0ft of torque—that’s right, it’s hybrid and makes even more power than before, 13% and 11% respectively.
Not only does the electric motor provide some more grunt, but it provides enough juice to power the ActiveHybrid 3 emissions-free at speeds up to 45mph and a distance up to 2.5 miles.
The 2013 BMW ActiveHybrid 3 will hit U.S. showrooms this fall with an MSRP of $50,195. Honestly? That’s pretty reasonable and we can’t wait to get our hands on one.
