The R8 e-tron accelerates to 62mph in 4.6s and will hit a limited 124mph in production trim. It weighs 3924 lbs. and has a range of 133 miles on a 49kWh battery. The two electric motors generate 375hp and an instantaneous, spine-bending 604 lb-ft of torque.
While the e-tron used in this lap was not electronically limited for top speed, the car was still stock production spec. Racing driving Markus Winkelhock piloted the R8 to an impressive 8:09.099 around the Nordschleife. While the idea of an electric car with no exhaust note, no third pedal and no backfires doesn’t exactly get our blood flowing, at least the green movement is still considering real performance.
