A new generation of Mercedes-Benz M-Class has already debuted for the 2012 model year, so the next logical step can only mean one thing: yep, an AMG version. Now it’s possible to take the labrador from standstill to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 155 mph, thanks to 518 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque emanating from a 5.5-liter, twin-turbo V8. But why go for a merely powerful AMG M-Class when there’s the optional Performance Package? Output gets hiked to 550 hp and 560 lb-ft. The 60-mph sprint is shortened to 4.6 ticks of the second hand and top speed is raised to 174 mph. This crazy-powerful crossover SUV also has a seven-speed auto transmission, special suspension settings, upgraded brakes, plus plenty of AMG-specific aero and trim elements. The 2012 ML63 AMG comes growling into showrooms at some point in the year’s first quarter.
