Team Lotus, not Group Lotus the road car makers, but the Formula One operation usually found at the lower end of the grid, has bought Brit sports car company Caterham. This firm makes machines all heavily based on the 1957 Lotus Seven, but like Team Lotus, is not affiliated to Group Lotus. However, Group Lotus is connected to Lotus Renault, the F1 team with Heidfeld , Kubica and Petrov on board. The whole Lotus thing is a bit of a soap opera really, but at least Caterham should get an injection of cash to carry on making a car the late, great Colin Chapman designed before he was 30. And there are plans to actually create and build new models.
