The SUV that was just too hip to be discontinued might soon be coming to the end of its trail. The coolly brutal Mercedes-Benz Gelndewagen, aka the G-Class, born in 1979, will carry on in the United States market only in G550 form for 2012. No more crazy-wonderful G55 AMG model (although there are rumors of a crazier, more wonderful G65). And there are two special editions for Europe: one is the Edition Select; the other, ominously, is called the BA3 Final Edition.
