No Express Delivery for Fastest Cars on the Planet

Patiently queuing

Some of the wealthiest car fans on the planet can expect to wait up to two years before taking delivery of some of the very hottest new supercars, according to new research by the MPH Prestige & Performance Motor Show featuring Top Gear Live.

Even with the recent economic downturn, celebrities, footballers and oligarchs are patiently queuing to get their hands on the latest offerings from the most exclusive marques such as Ferrari, Aston Martin, Lamborghini and Bugatti.

Despite a sporty 0-62 mph time of just 3.7 seconds, the bulk of orders for Ferrari's stunning 197,500 599 GTB Fiorano have pushed the delivery time up to a less-than-speedy two years - the longest queue of any marque and model researched, but undoubtedly one of the most exclusive.

Even though Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the fastest players on the pitch, that doesn't mean he can get hold of a supercar any quicker. Rumour has it the star winger is more than willing to wait a whole year to take ownership of a 253mph 872,000 Bugatti Veyron - typical for new orders.

James Bond-wannabes looking to kit themselves out with the 510bhp Aston Martin DBS, star of the upcoming Quantum of Solace movie, will also have to wait nearly 12 months before they can get their `license to thrill.'

Not willing to wait longer than a year? Models like the Audi R8, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560 or the 355,000 McLaren Mercedes SLR Roadster have a slightly shorter delivery time of around six months. And those who fancy themselves as the next Lewis Hamilton will also have to wait a minimum of six months before they can put their skills to the test in the Caparo T1, essentially a road legal Formula One car, with a 0-60 time of under 3 seconds.
