Carlos Lago, Motor Trend’s associate road rest editor, is a lucky guy. We've seen him strap in for seat time with the newest hypercars from Porsche and McLaren on previous episodes of Ignition. Now, after experiencing what the 918 Spyder and P1 are capable of, Carlos visits the Fiorano Modenese circuit near Maranello, Italy to pilot the Ferrari LaFerarri hypercar contender around the automaker's test track, and see how it stacks up on tight country roads.
Fitting in with the rest of the hypercar lineup, the LaFerrari is an amalgamation of reality-defying numbers. Ferrari has been characteristically tight-lipped on the official performance stats, but estimates a top speed of 217mph and 0-60mph time of less than three seconds. Lago took testing equipment with him to the track, but Ferrari wouldn't allow us to test the car. If you want one for yourself, it will set you back $1.35 million, but don’t bother making the trip down to the dealership, as they have already sold out of their limited production run of 499 cars.
Now, see the almighty LaFerrari in action, and more importantly, hear the 963hp V12 hybrid sing its siren song around the Fiorano test track. Check out the video below, and let us know in the comments if you think the LaFerrari stacks up to the competition from Porsche and McLaren.
