- Concept unveiled at Beijing International Auto Show
- Design based on flagship Mulsanne sedan
- First hybrid application set for new 2017 Bentley SUV
- By 2020, 90% of brand models projected to have hybrid options
Dr. Wolfgang Schreiber, Bentley chairman and Chief Executive, stated that by the end of the decade 90 percent of the Bentley lineup would be available as a plug-in hybrid. The first taste of the brand’s move towards EV technology will be displayed at the Beijing International Automotive Show in the form of the Bentley Hybrid Concept.
The Bentley concept is a preview of an all-new SUV to be released in 2017. Based on the Bentley flagship Mulsanne sedan, the concept sets its sights on blending luxury and improved performance. Copper was chosen for the exterior Bentley color and as an interior accent to represent its electrical makeup.
Bentley claims its plug-in hybrid motor(s) will increase power by 25 percent, reduce C02 emissions by 70 percent and be capable of traveling an estimated 31 miles (50km) on electric-only power. Stay tuned for more news from the upcoming Beijing International Auto Show, running from April 23-29th.
