Volkswagen is raising the bar for Shark Week 2013 by transforming last year’s observation cage into a 2013 Beetle Convertible for the Subaquatic Road Trip. This is the second consecutive year that VWoA sponsors Discover Channel’s Shark Week, which airs August 4th-9th.
“While most of the entertainment world has adapted to our busy schedules through on-demand viewing, Shark Week is a rarity in that it still captures millions of viewers in a week-long shared experience,” said Kevin Mayer, vice president marketing, Volkswagen of America, Inc. “Volkswagen is excited to add our unique touch to an event with such an impressive impact on pop culture.”

On the social media front, VWoA is also sponsoring the Shark Week Plus viewing app, which enables sharing across iPhone and iPad devices, and online. Fans are encouraged to participate in this year’s new online experience Subaquatic Road Trip, enabling them to be transported into the 360-degree view of Luke Tipple’s underwater journey in the VW Beetle Shark Cage.
