The sound of a Ferrari engine is always special, but echoing off the skyscrapers in Manhattan and bouncing off Times Square has to be a very special experience. And that's what happened recently when Ferrari organized a rally for more than 60 Ferrari in New York.

The cars would include a full line-up of current models as well several Daytonas, an F40, 275 GTB, 250 GT Series 1 Cabriolet and Dino 246, among others. Most of us would be happy to see one of these in New York, but a motorcade of the magnificent machines must have been spectacular.

The route went from Battery Park in the southern tip of Manhattan, to Bridgehampton on the eastern end of Long Island. The ultimate destination was the Bridgehampton Polo Club, where drivers would celebrate the end of the season.

The cars took a northern route through the Manhattan, heading up Times Square, Central Park South and over the Queensboro Bridge before driving toward Long Island.

Once outside the city, the roads changed to countryside and farmland that led to the Bridgehampton Polo Club.

To thank New York City for hosting the rally, Ferrari made a donation to New York Cares, an organization that runs volunteer projects for 1300 nonprofits, public schools and city agencies to help people in need throughout the five boroughs.
