A few short days after announcing the Vantage Vanquish Volante, Aston Martin
has raised the stakes again with details of the 2015 Vantage S that will be the
quickest Vantage ever built and the fastest accelerating Aston short of the limited
edition and sold out One-77.
Priced at $184,995 in the US, the S model will get the new 565hp AM28 6.0-liter
V12 engine, making it capable of reaching 205mph making it. It will also have
457 lb-ft of torque at 5750rpm, with as much as 376 lb-ft at just 1000rpm -
making it a very flexible powerplant.
As always, power will be transmitted to the rear wheels, this time through a new
Sportshift III AMT (automated manual transmission).
The new powertrain includes a number of technologies developed on the world's
racetracks, as does the three-stage adaptive damping that allows the driver to
tune the car's behavior to the prevailing conditions. This is also linked to the ZF-
Servotronic power steering that uses a 15:1 ratio, and will switch between 'Sport'
or 'Normal' settings dependant upon the suspension setting.
Working alongside the extended adaptive damping system is the 'Sport' mode
button on the center console, which sharpens throttle response, gearshift speed
and timing, as well as exhaust note.
