WRC Germany Loeb/Elena Win Again - Web Exclusive

Can nothing stop this duo? Sébastian Loeb and Daniel Elena best their previous record for most wins in a season securing their 9th win in Germany this past weekend.

Being the World Rally Championship and being in Germany, its fitting that nearly every weather experience known throughout the season was present and accounted for in Germany. From scorching heat at the start of day one to cold rain and flooded stages by the afternoon, Germany gave everything it had to the best drivers of the series. Tire choice was key in every stage, seeing as no one really knew what the weather was going to throw at the teams.

Lobe and Elena would their Citroen DS3 Rally car to the brink setting the fastest stage and overall time, securing their inevitable win, looming championship and put Citroen in position to secure its eighth manufacturers’ title.

Jari-Matti Latvala (27 years-old) was able to secure second place has he triumphed over the challenging conditions Germany threw at his Ford Fiesta RS World Rally Car. Latvala would win two stages of the 15-stage 692-mile weekend event. "This rally hasn't been kind to Ford over the years so it's a boost for everyone in the team. It was a hard event but we showed that the pace of myself and the car on asphalt continues to improve,” Latvala stated.

Teammate Petter Solberg and Chris Patterson would finish 11th in a similar car holding onto second until retiring the next day after coming into contact with a rock, damaging the suspension heavily.

Ford Racing-supported FIA WRC Academy to open a 35-point lead in the series with two rounds remaining. Next round The championship returns to gravel next month when Wales Rally GB moves forward from its traditional date as the final round. The event is based in Cardiff from 13 - 16 September.
