Starting life as a street car, the Evosport Mercedes-Benz AMG CLK63 Black Series has shed its modest factory skin for even wider fenders, a cage and engine enhancements to take on challengers like the Porsche GT3 Cup, Audi R8 LMS and Nissan GT-R’s for the Pirelli World Challenge Series. The car will make its global race debut at the Cadillac Sonoma Grand Prix August 25.

“It is a work of art, and in my experience, cars that look fast ARE fast.” Exclaimed team driver Craig Stanton about the Evosport racecar.

Craig Stanton – Long Beach 2009 World Challenge Winner – will pilot the only professional racing Mercedes-Benz in North America with bespoke components created and developed by Evosport. The team has even developed a stand-alone ECU for the AMG M156 engine, showcasing their seriousness when creating the car to ultimately win.

"Functionality in concert with exceptional fit & finish were key in this development. We are approaching Sonoma with eyes wide open, as the car is still under development. From my experience in this series, the competition in the Pirelli World Challenge GT class is incredibly tough, and we are coming to it with a new build. Our goals are modest; to finish out the weekend in solid fashion and to show the reliability and potential of the car. We certainly have the right guy in the car." said Team Crew Chief Chris Willis.

You can watch the car go toe-to-toe against Porsche and Audi on the world-challengetv.com August 25th, and on Sunday, August 26th at 3:00 PM ET. NBC will broadcast the race on Sunday September 9th at 3:30 PM ET.
