Historical rally Golf impresses fans in San Marino

The Rally Legend San Marino, a historical rally spectacular with former World Champions like Marcus Grönholm, Timo Salonen and Juha Kankkunen, attracts more than 50,000 fans to San Marino every year. Volkswagen competed with two cars in the legend classification at the ninth running of the event: triple German Rally Champion Dieter Depping and former co-driver World Champion Peter Diekmann drove a Golf GTI II Group A of the type with which Volkswagen was World Champion in 1986. Former European Rallycross Champion Per Eklund drove a replica Golf GTI 1, with which Volkswagen contested the 1980 Rally Monte Carlo, together with Hans Sylvan.

Three wins for Volkswagen at season finale at Silverstone

Three victories for Volkswagen at the British Formula 3 Championship season finale at Silverstone. In the first race the Dane Kevin Magnussen (Carlin team) celebrated a lights-to-flag victory. British guest driver Alexander Sims (Motopark team) triumphed in the second race, he used the event in Great Britain as preparation for the Macau Formula 3 Grand Prix. In the third and final race the Carlin team recorded a one-two-three finish 'powered by Volkswagen': Carlos Huertas (Columbia) won from Kevin Magnussen and Rupert Svendsen-Cook (Great Britain). As a result the Volkswagen drivers Felipe Nasr, Kevin Magnussen and Carlos Huertas took the first three positions in the championship.

Steve Chaplin defends his title

New Beetle driver Steve Chaplin defended his Volkswagen Racing Cup title with a seventh place and a victory at the season finale at Silverstone. Victory in the first race went to Aaron Mason (Volkswagen Golf GTI) from Joe Fulbrook (Volkswagen Bora) and Paul Taylor (Volkswagen Golf R32). In the second race of the popular British amateur series Aaron Mason crossed the finish line behind winner Chaplin. Golf driver James Walker completed the podium.

Volkswagen Endurance Cup

Win for the Accord Uitzendbureau squad

The sixth round of the Volkswagen Endurance Cup in Holland ended with victory for Jeroen den Boer and Marcel Dekker (Accord Uitzendbureau team). At the five hour race at Spa-Francorchamps the 2006 champions Eddie den Dekker and Rolf de Jong (FIA Racing) finished second ahead of Palmyra Racing. As a result the Accord Uitzendbureau team travels as leader to the season finale at Zandvoort on 29 October.
