ALMS Porsche Crash Details:
- Video shows incredible crash that goes airborne and driver walks away
- Bystanders and driver unhurt
- The car shown is a road-going car, modified for racing, demonstrating the level of Porsches safety
We've all heard those say, "racing is unsafe" or "that's a quick way to an early grave" but today's crash
cage, track and gear technology has drastically improved the chances of walking away. Case and point:
the video above. And the fact that the car in question is a road going car modified for racing, makes you
think twice about making the statement "performance cars are unsafe" or even "small cars are unsafe."
The crash is shown through several different camera angles and is chilling from any. Watch as the car
goes completely airborne and flips several times beside film crew before finally landing on the tire wall.
All bystanders, some of which do not even see it coming, escape the chaos unscathed and the driver
walked away unhurt. This video also demonstrates how much the racing industry has grown in terms of
driver and spectator safety. Not sure how you feel about Porsche road cars, but they have convinced me
of the safety potential of their product.
