The R8 Spyder with the 5.2-liter V10 engine is coming west as a 2011 model. The manual version will cost $161,000 and the model with the R tronic transmission will be an extra $9,000. That's not including destination, taxes, title, or dealer charges. At least it will have 525 hp and thermal-resistant leather to enjoy in the four seconds this hand-made car takes to hit 60 mph from standstill and then max out at 195 mph.
And keep the fanfares blaring for the RS 5. Yes, a version of the comely S5 coupe with an even harder core has 450 hp blasting from its 4.2-liter V8. That's more than one version of the R8. It will have all-wheel drive and a seven-speed, dual-clutch gearbox. The best bit: It's going on sale in the U.S. in 2012. But for how much, we'll have to wait and see.
