It's been about 15 years since we last saw an E-Class soft-top, but that W124 cabrio sure was a pretty thing. Now Mercedes-Benz, in its wisdom, has graced the world with a four-seat, open-top version of the current E-Class. It has a three-layer fabric roof that can open or close in 20 seconds, and do so at speeds of up to 25 mph. With the hood down, occupants may enjoy M-B's special Airscarf system that directs warm air to one's neck, as seen on the SLK two-seater. And the newest innovation is Aircap, a little wing on top of the windshield that prevents even the rear passengers from being buffeted in all directions. There are two engines to choose from: a 268-hp 3.5 liter V6 in the E350 Cabriolet starting at $56,850, or a 382-hp 5.5-liter V8 in the E550 version starting at $64,800. That W124 model has become something of a collectible, with strong resale values. Maybe this one will follow suit.
