Get Your Boost On!

Teutonic tuning
Why the new Turbo kicks ass

1. Twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter engine has 480 bhp and 457 lb-ft of torque vs. 420 bhp and 413 lb-ft. in the previous model. Engine offers 60 horsepower more than predecessor, raising specific output to an all-time high of 133 hp per liter.

2. New exhaust gas turbo system with variable turbine geometry (VTG) improves power, torque curve, throttle response, fuel economy-just about everything. Peak torque now extends from 1950-5000 rpm, compared with 2700-4600 rpm on prior model.

3. New standard AWD with Porsche Traction Management (PTM) is lighter and faster reacting. The system distributes exactly the right amount of power to the wheels via an electromagnetically controlled multiple-plate clutch, replacing the prior viscous clutch.

4. Push a button next to the shifter and the optional Sport Chrono Package Turbo allows a 10-second, mid-rpm-range Overboost, temporarily increasing turbo boost under full throttle by 3 psi, and swelling peak torque to 502 lb-ft.

5. Five-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission, quicker than the six-speed manual with optimized shift points, requires only 3.4 seconds to sprint from zero to 60 mph. With either Tip or the manual, top speed is 192 mph.

6. Brake disc diameter at all fours has been increased 20mm to 350mm (13.78 in.) with larger, more powerful six-piston monobloc brakes front and four-piston units at the rear with optional PCCB (15-in. front, 13.7-in. rear).
