A sedan is one of the most common vehicle body styles and is normally a passenger car with 4-doors and separate engine and truck compartments. Sedans have a fixed roof and window frames and historically have splintered off into variations including the hard-top and fastback sedan. A fastback sedan is simply a sedan that has a sloping rear deck or “back” though still has a separate truck. A hard-top sedan usually lacked the door frame above the side window glass that was the standard for traditional sedan design.
