Far From The Modena Crowd

Ktm X Bow Dallara Front View

KTM X-Bow Dallara
KTM is an Austrian company best known for making great motorbikes. So the X-Bow Dallara track warrior is a bit of a departure. It's another of those stripped-down, only-just-street-legal machines. Italian motorsport specialist Dallara builds the car's carbon fiber frame and tunes the suspension. Power comes from a VW/Audi 2.0T engine. It weighs just 1,543 pounds, has a removable steering wheel, Brembo brakes and a limited-slip diff. The price is rumored to be around 40,000.
Peak Power: 240 hp
Peak Torque: 229 lb-ft
0-62 mph: 3.9 sec.

Caparo Freestream T1 Front View

Caparo Freestream T1
Two guys who worked with Gordon Murray on the iconic McLaren F1 have come up with the Freestream T1-part supercar, part rocket. Weighing only 1,023 pounds, it's all-aluminum, supercharged 2.4-liter V8 sends it blazing up to 100 mph in five seconds, while peak power is is produced at a screaming 10,500 rpm. As an indication of how the 'lighter is better' philosophy permeates the car, the steering rack is made from magnesium and the driveshafts are hollow. It's legal for UK roads, although production hasn't begun in earnest, costing as it does the equivalent of $300,000.
Peak Power: 507 hp
Peak Torque: N/A
0-60 mph: 2.5 sec.
Top Speed: 200 mph

Tramontana Side View

Tramontana
Even though it's produced a two-time F1 champion, Spain is somewhat short on homegrown supercars. Tramontana hopes to rectify this with its eponymous machine. Like an F1 car, it has a full carbon fiber monocoque chassis. Then things get really interesting with a 5.5-liter V12 biturbo engine-in a car that weighs just 2,750 pounds. Carbon-ceramic brake rotors work alongside carbon wheels with magnesium cores. The base price is 700,000.
Peak Power: 720 hp
Peak Torque: 685 lb-ft
0-62 mph: 3.7 sec.
Top Speed: 214 mph
