Rotora four- and six-piston calipers are manufactured from forged billet aluminum alloy. The calipers are then CNC-machined to ensure that the caliper is as lightweight as possible while still maintaining maximum rigidity. Each opposing caliper piston is designed to increase the overall clamping load and retain an equal front-to-rear bias. Each kit contains full floating heat-treated vane rotors, ceramic pads and stainless-steel lines. Standard caliper colors include red and metallic blue. The eight- and twelve-piston brake upgrade kit contains either four or six ceramic brake pads, respectively, with two sequentially sized pistons pushing each pad. This delivers excellent initial bite and uniform pad-to-disc contact which eliminates uneven pad wear. The multiple pad system allows for maximum reduction of gas pockets produced on the rotor surface. Rotora's calipers and two-piece floating discs with billet aluminum hats produces supreme brake compression and allows for heat dissipation to eliminate brake fade. Wilwood kits use billet four- or six-piston brake calipers. The calipers are available with exclusive Thermolock(r) pistons that reduce heat transfer by 25 percent, which in turn reduces the risk of boiling brake fluid. Each Wilwood kit contains a pair of long grain carbon-iron rotors, providing long wear, high thermal stability and resistance to distortion. The six-piston ST-60 caliper uses the same squeeze-forged process and patented AeroRotor used in StopTech's ST-40 four-piston application. The new six-piston design can accommodate 19 different piston sizes, allowing the system to be tuned for maximum brake torque. The use of differential piston sizes causes a decrease in the pad taper for increased pad life and a more positive pedal feel. The caliper has 15 different friction compounds, giving the driver the ability to use a street compound for normal driving and a race compound on the track. StopTech's standard big brake kit uses a ST-40 four-piston caliper. It is manufactured using a squeeze-forging process and incorporates a bolt-in bridge, making the caliper twice as stiff. The kit contains cast iron AeroRotors, patented floating rotors which use a vane design with an airfoil shape, allowing for maximum heat dissipation.
