A few months ago, I was asked to describe the demographic/socioeconomic makeup of the average european car reader. This is what I came up with: mostly male, 24 to 60 years old, college-educated, $70,000-plus yearly income, passionate about European cars, passionate about motorsports, tends to favor originality and creativity, quality driven, etc. (If I left you out, please don't kill me). Essentially, I described Emil Eyvazoff, one of ec's loyal, longtime supporters. If you needed a poster boy for a european car reader, Emil's mug would do just fine.
I first met Emil some 15 years ago during a photo shoot with his VW Corrado. I remember it was clean, understated and totally Euro, the type of car that got me into this business in the first place. Seven years later we hooked up again, this time for a feature on his gorgeous ipd Volvo C70. Like the Corrado, its understated lines and uprated engine stood for all that was good in the European aftermarket. Emil has kept his nose to the grindstone for almost two decades, long enough for him to step into what is arguably the most fber sports car in the world. Like its predecessors, this Porsche is tastefully understated, the epitome of form following function. Maybe it ain't the most original car in the world but it sure kicks ass. That alone is worth the asking price.
