This event literally started with a bang! As a number of BMWs participated in the drag event on the first night of MFest 6, Marcus Olson’s M3 caught everybody off guard with an anti-lag backfire that echoed off the surrounding stadium like a gunshot. To the crowd’s amazement, the turbocharged E46 M3 recorded a 10.68sec pass on the quarter-mile strip, dumbfounding spectators.
If you’re unfamiliar with the annual MFest, it kicks off Friday morning with a record-breaking BMW caravan assembled in Barstow, CA. The Bimmers then cruise onto the Las Vegas strips in epic numbers for a weekend of racing, a car show and nightly parties.
This year was extremely popular, with tickets selling out months in advance and enthusiasts coming from FL, TX, NB, AZ, OR, CA and even one individual flying in from Dubai for the festivities.
Day two of the three-day weekend started with a roll-in at Las Vegas Speedway for the show & shine that takes place in the paddock. There’s also a popular Tuner Shootout for invited sponsors such as VF-Engineering, STM, ESS Tuning, GF Haus, The Shop, BLK as well as Sonic MS. All go head-to-head for the fastest lap of the day. European Auto Source and its supercharged E92 M3 came away victorious with the bragging rights.
Raffle prizes were given out, show trophies awarded and models competed for the Miss MFest ribbon. Then the party relocated to Tao Beach Night Club and continued into the next morning with a pool party to recover for the drive home.
MFest 6 was a blur of burnt rubber, road racing and late-night parties with friends. We can’t wait for next year. Check out our extended online coverage and video at eurotuner.com (or youtube.com/eurotuner).
