Seventh Place
Hartmann Motorsport
Scott Hartmann, the brains behind suspension giant Intrax, is a very busy man. In addition to an active race program (ALMS and GrandAm), Hartmann maintains a sizable shop stuffed full of European cars destined for high-performance street applications (Les Bidrawn's supercharged Boxster among them). If you needed a word to summarize Hartmann's work it would be "consistency," a term that perfectly describes the performance of Hartmann's yellow beast here. Of all the cars that came to play, this Porsche displayed the most consistent performance, producing numbers virtually identical in each test. "The goal was to build a very streetable 996tt, a car that can drive itself to the track, kick butt, and then drive home without breaking a sweat," said Hartmann. Producing a substantial 496.6 hp and a healthy serving of torque, the car also includes a GT3 stainless-steel roll bar with integrated harnesses while the seat backs have been color matched in the same brilliant yellow body color. Despite its seventh-place showing, Hartmann's car was a solid performer with the reliability of a hammer...a very powerful hammer.
Driver's View
Very nice, predictable powerband, and great brakes with a very solid pedal and no fade whatsoever. Very NICE car to drive, street tires kept it from having a really quick lap time, but the car was incredibly predictable and did everything really well, just lacked overall grip.
Motor complemented chassis, which complemented brakes, which complemented balance and made for a great overall street car. Ride height may have been a bit low, as it moved a bit on the bumps, but not a big issue. Car too quiet. A very clean, stock looking, daily driver with great 19-in. wheels.
