Volvos at VIR
|
VIR's thoughtfully shaded false grid area makes all the difference to drivers fully suited up in race gear awaiting word to proceed onto the track. At 90*F and high humidity, spending 15 or 20 minutes in the shade instead of direct sun means drivers are able to maintain significant body fluids before they hit the track. Lose too much fluid in this heat, and the driver risks dehydration, loss of concentration and perhaps even loss of consciousness under race conditions.
